February 26, 2026: The Glendale Historical Society Makes Plans for Spring
The Glendale Historical Society (GHS) is gearing up for spring – which is just around the corner! A March session on how to preserve family and community history will feature several local speakers, and planning is underway for the Glendale Gardens and Homes tour in early June.
The next meeting of the GHS will take place at City Hall on Tuesday, March 11 at 7 p.m. and will feature a discussion on how individuals preserve family and local history. Several short presentations will showcase personal research projects that have resulted in books, organized family archives, and digital collections. Local resident Robert Weaver will speak about his project to preserve the history of Trevallian Place which resulted in a book focused on this Glendale neighborhood. Bob Berry will talk about the family history that he compiled based on an extensive array of family photos and documents, including information on “Go to Blazes BBQ”, formerly on Manchester Road and run by his family, the Blase’s who were early Glendale residents. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own projects to share with the hope of inspiring the preservation and organization of your own family or local history. Everyone is welcome to this interactive session.
The Glendale Historical Society is gearing up for the first Glendale Gardens and Homes tour which will take place on Sunday, June 7. The tour will feature a range of homes and gardens that showcase the wide array of properties that make Glendale special. We are seeking additional homes to feature on the tour, so if you would be willing to open your house or garden that day, please send a note to the GHS at Glendalehsmo@gmail.com. Please consider being part of this new effort to show off and share our hometown of historic properties, small, charming houses, new builds, well-loved and well-tended gardens.
